Whilst working as a teacher of Personal and Social Education I trained to be a Relate (the relationship people) counsellor so that I could work with my pupils’ parents who were experiencing relationship problems. I believed, as I still do, that if I help to ease tensions in the home then the children will be less stressed in school.
When I left teaching after 30 years, I began counselling including relationship
work fulltime. As it is not always easy for clients to access a centre as remote as Whitehaven, I have trained to work online and offer this service as an addition to face-to-face counselling.
In the absence of any Relate centres in Cumbria, licensed counsellors undertake all Relate work. I am licensed to Relate and this can be verified if you visit http://www.relate.org.uk/Counsellor_SXDD9A-A77F8ED8.html If you live in West Cumbria, you may be familiar with the West Coast Relationship Counselling Centre in Whitehaven, the centre I am co director of, and where I counsel individuals and couples.
In the last few years I have studied for a Diploma in Life Coaching and I use my life coaching experience to help people return a sense of balance and quality to their lives. This may be of particular value to people recovering from relationship difficulties.
In the recent past I have studied for a Diploma in Online Counselling and this can be verified by visiting ACTO’s website http://acto-uk.org/directoryoftherapists.htm
